They pretty much gave away the next draft for CMC. He will fit right in with injuries! His wife is hot however, so should we approve?

The price was a little steep for my liking, but there's no denying that McCaffrey instantly becomes the 49ers' best RB, and in Kyle's system he'll get used a lot. At the very least, I hope he pushes Jeff "I might get 40 yards or fumble, I dunno" Wilson completely off the field.
Schefter has some actually useful things to say. All this is from his Twitter, in order:
"Stunner: Panthers are trading Pro-Bowl RB Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for draft picks, sources tell ESPN. McCaffrey returns to the Bay Area, where he attended Stanford."
I forgot McCaffrey was a Stanford guy.
"Trade comp: 49ers are sending second-, third- and fourth-round picks in 2023 and a fifth-round pick in 2024 in exchange for RB Christian McCaffrey, sources tell ESPN."
Steep, but...
"What helped the 49ers pull off the trade for Christian McCaffrey was that they had six extra 3rd-round compensatory draft picks granted to them for losing Robert Saleh to the Jets, Mike McDaniel to the Dolphins and Martin Mayhew to the Commanders in recent off-seasons."
...so our draft cupboard is emptier, but not bare.
Another fun detail...cue Lion King music...
"And so it comes full circle: Former NFL wide receiver Ed McCaffrey played for former 49ers OC Mike Shanahan in San Francisco, and now McCaffrey's son Christian will play for Shanahan's son Kyle in San Francisco."
So, when might he actually get on the field?
"49ers' RB Christian McCaffrey is scheduled to fly to San Francisco on Friday, when he will meet his new teammates and begin to learn the new playbook. It will be challenging to have him in uniform Sunday vs. the Chiefs, but McCaffrey did go to Stanford and anything possible. Meaning that Christian McCaffrey’s last game with the Panthers came against the Rams…and his first game for the 49ers very well could come against the Rams."
And there you have it.
He’s still really good. I don’t know what to think of the trade yet. I don’t have confidence that Kyle will be able to design plays that will fit his strengths.
@john Kyle already runs plays that do the dual threat thing. So I don't think it will be a matter so much of DESIGNING the plays, but more a matter of CALLING the plays, meeting the situation at hand. Which Kyle is inconsistent at doing, as we have seen way too often. "Hey, we're 3rd & 7 because I called two stupid runs up the middle! Now let's throw one short of the sticks and see what happens!" That's what worries me.
I'm not a fan, granted we'll still have a bunch of 3rd's (4 if you include 2 more for Jimmy and Mecco), a 5th, a 5th and 2 7ths but it's a desperation move.
Iggy's spot on, MCM gives Kyle 1 more year. MCM and Trey is a combo that he can sell Jed.
If Kyle was rotating RB's I'd be more inline but he's not.
Side note from this: the Panthers are building a HUGE mess of draft picks, and may even end up with the #1 overall this year. Their draft will be something to watch for sure.
Iggy also points out that MCM is not a bell cow RB, Kyle might not care.
What I'm imagining is CMC, Juice, Deebo and Kittle all on the field at once, all lining up interchangeably at various positions. On the end, out of the backfield, whatever. Who the fuck do you cover? If Kyle can make it work it'll give defenses nightmares, but as I said before, I don't have much faith in Kyle. We'll see, I guess.
@nortyfiner yeah Kyle is probably a good designer of plays but he’s clueless what to call during games. That is always what worries me. If CMC is used right, he is a huge weapon.
A surprisingly positive article about CMC, Kyle, and our offense in general.
He made a few plays against us a couple of weeks ago that made me think damn he’s still got it. I didn’t think he’d end up here though.
