The Jets did awesome in my opinion.
Jets get:
Rodgers
1st round pick (15)
5th round pick (170)
Packers get:
1st round pick (13)
2nd round pick (42)
6th round pick (207)
2024 2nd round pick (conditional if Rodgers plays 65% of snaps this year).

I dunno, I think the Packers won. A slightly higher first in a good year for it, a second and a sixth, and a 2024 second that is likely to become a first unless Rodgers gets hurt, for basically price of a fifth and getting rid of a headache. Rodgers will be a help to the Jets I'm sure, but it doesn't take a lot to be a help to a dumpster fire. Oh, and just wait til the NYC media gets hold of him. After all this drama, the NYC fans and media will expect nothing less than a Super Bowl run, and if Rodgers and the Jets fail to deliver, it's gonna be a feeding frenzy. If he thought he had it rough with the media before with all his tinfoil hat bullshit, he hasn't seen anything yet.
Somebody at NFL.com has an opinion.
I think both teams won from the trade. The Jets clearly need Rodgers and they didn’t have to give up much to get him. The Jets either go with Rodgers or would have had to draft a QB or go with Zach Wilson - either option would have resulted in Saleh and Douglas losing their jobs.
And the Packers clearly didn’t want him anymore and got a couple of picks in return. Seems to be a win all around. My guess is it took this long because the Packers’ asking price was too steep. So the Jets waited.
There was definitely back and forth on the price. The Packers and Rodgers mutually wanted to move on from each other (kinda like my wife and I but her medical condition won't allow it), but the Jets misunderstood that it wasn't entirely a "please take him" situation, so the Jets tried to lowball and the Packers said no way, and as free agency wore on and other things became clear, they eventually worked it out. I think Aaron also played a role in dragging it out; he wanted to see what other moves the Jets would make, to see how much the Jets were willing to commit to him as a team.
What’s interesting is whether the Packers will pick up Love’s 5th year option or not. It would pay him a guaranteed $20 million. It would make sense if they do. They obviously have some confidence in him to move on from Rodgers so picking up the option seems to make sense. And if he plays well this year $20 million is a drop in the bucket for a good QB these days.
Meanwhile...
@john Yep, the Packers are all in on Love. The question is will they actually build the team he needs for him, which they never really did for Aaron.
@nortyfiner yep. Many mocks have the Packers taking a receiver with their first pick. Wouldn’t that be a hilarious way to spite Rodgers that they take a receiver now after he’s gone.
...and after all that drama, he's done for the year on his fourth play as a Jet. Torn achilles. Karma is a mother, that's for sure.
