Geno Smith and Derek Carr signed ridiculous contracts. Daniel Jones is was the worst though. The Ravens smartly franchised Lamar. These QB contracts are out of control.
Lamar Jackson is in a "tag and trade" situation and has been given full freedom to shop himself around. I'd be surprised if he's a Raven next year.
The Titans are shopping Derrick Henry. That will affect the RB market for sure.
Lindstrom (a guard) re-signed with the falcons. 5 years $105 million. The falcons must know his worth since he’s been there a bit but wow that much for a guard?
Holy crap. Chiefs are overpaying OT Jawaan Taylor like crazy. I mean, he's a better RT than many, but he's not 4 years $80 million better. Chiefs done lost their minds.

On that note, there's a LOT of stupid big money being thrown around this year already. Did the cap go up by some astronomical amount that I'm not aware of?
Huh, Patrick Peterson is still around. On his way to Pittsburgh.

@nortyfiner I read somewhere that he gave up the most sacks in the league from 2019-2021. He settled down and became a solid player last year but agree $80 million is nuts.
It's easy to win an offseason when you're the worst team in the league which usually comes with a lot of picks and cap space. The Bears traded Roquan Smith and replaced him with what many think is a lesser player in Edmonds. The Niners coming away with a dominant DT when nobody expected them to get anyone was huge.
Not sure what to think of the Rams trading away Jalen Ramsey for Hunter Long. I feel like it could be a net loss for them.
I think this says a lot about the state of the league right now.

Orlando Brown goes to the Bengals for 4 years $64 million. That seems like a bargain to me. McGlinchey went for way more. The guy apparently replacing Brown on the Chiefs isn’t as good either and is making a lot more.
Something seems strange about this. Or maybe there’s something wrong with Brown?

Personally, I think he just wanted out of KC. Follow the bouncing ball: in March 2022 the Chiefs put the non-exclusive franchise tag on Brown. Contract negotiations ensued, and Brown reportedly turned down a big contract offer in July (see linked article). Brown then signed his tender in August and played 2022 under the franchise tag, likely knowing full well it would make him too expensive to tag again this year. Which it did; if the Chiefs had tagged him again it would have cost them over $20M or something. So, Brown basically forced himself into free agency and now he's a Bengal, albeit for less money than what KC offered last summer. Win for him if that's what he wanted, I guess.
Lions gonna roar?
